Mediation is for people who want to settle family disputes without going to Court and without destroying whatever is left of their fragile relaionships. It employs the skills of a neutral and impartial third party, called a mediator, who assists the individuals in making their own decisions by providing necessary information (not legal advise), clarifying issues, helping explore alternative solutions, and suggesting possible compromise3s or alternatives.
Issues mediated may include parenting plans (formerly referred to as custody), parenting time and child support; alimony or spousal support; division of marital assets and liabilites; health insurance; life insurance; amnd the tax impacts of various decisions.
