Goals of Mediation
« Mediation | Posted on 03/06/2009 01:48 pm by adminThe goal of mediation is to help parties reach their own acceptable agreement by fully exploring all choices. It allows the parties to control their own futures and the outcome or results rather then having a Judge decide them. The parties can be creative in crafting an agreement while the Judge must follow the statutory provisions and can not be creative in crafting a resolution of the issues.
Mediation is a means to avoid the need for a Court imposed decision by a Judge who does NOT know the parties or their children.
Mediation can assist the parties in understanding the terms and future impact of their agreement.
Mediation can prepare the parties to anticipate, work through, and resolve disagreements that might arise.
Mediation can reduce anxiety and negative effects of going to Court, and lessen the financial and emotional burden placed on parties by Court resolution of the issues.
